I am a dreamer.
I love dreaming about my life. How the breeze in my local park sings to my soul. And when I lean in just a little bit, it is as if somehow God breathes into my very being. Observing my son’s inner confidence and self assured glances at me, filling me with pride. My daughters iridescent nature, her smile that lights up all nearby, with her truly buoyant nature. The touch of my toddlers silky curly hair on my face, and her warm cuddles with her short stubby arms. My husbands irresistible cheeky grin, (and nature to go with it!) and the excitement I feel when he comes home from work to embrace us. His home and sanctuary, as well as my own.
The life that I long to have. As a stay at home mum or homemaker as I prefer (it sounds so much more intentional to say that!) there have been many where I have gazed out of my window longing for connection beyond my home walls. The precious moments of being at home do sometimes give way to feelings of monotony and boredom. The drowning in laundry, stepping on Legos (little blighters!), the constant decluttering, being a mediator, a counsellor, a taxi driver…the list is endless. But on those days where I go to bed feeling like there has to be more meaning to my life than constantly cleaning up behind someone’s messes, I remember that I am more than just a cleaner. I am a nurturer, a teacher, a confidant, a friend, a sister, a daughter. I want my children to see that. I want them to be aspirational and confident in who they are becoming.
That’s a mighty feat.
And the truth is that can all seem a little overwhelming. But I believe it doesn’t have to be. Even though I have so much to learn and improve, I would love to document my journey on this and share the nuggets that I’m picking up and exploring with my family. Like many of you I am trying my best. I invite you to sit on your favourite chair with your favourite drink, draw a cosy blanket or jumper around you if you have one and let’s share our adventures.
I love to write. About anything and everything. In particular Teenage Fantasy. I dabble in sketches, paper craft and love the immersive experience of music. I believe in the power of education, and how to use it to build wisdom.
This blog is about being ambitious. In my own introverted way. I have dreams and goals that I want to realise all without losing my perspective on what matters most.
Being deliberate in my decisions and building the life that will become my reality.
Join me and my family in crafting and building our families, and our futures.
